Stress

Stress is the word that comes out on my mind when I thought about the modern day laymen daily life. This is the word that follows us every day that no one can stay free from it. Why? Living in this urban life, we can’t say that we are stress free, because there must be something that disturbing us or temp to make us feel uncomfortable. Stress isn’t always bad. In small doses, it can help you perform under pressure and motivate you to do your best. But when you’re constantly running in emergency mode, your mind and body pay the price.

What actually make us stress?
There are actually a lot of things that make stress surface. Some of the common things that normally most of us would encountered daily are stuck in a jam, waking up early for work, loads of errand at work, meeting, personal matter, financial issue, child issue, family issue, and lots of other issue/matters that we can’t even think of. Stress is a physical and emotional response to events that make us feel pressured.

Can stress do us harm?
Stress can cause both mental and physical symptoms. The symptoms of stress are different for each individual.
The mental symptoms of stress include:
·         Tension
·         Hard to concentrate
·         Feeling tired
·         Insomnia
·         Feeling uncomfortable all the time

The physical symptoms of stress include:
·         Dry mouth
·         Breathing difficulty
·         Headache
·         Sweating palms
·         Chest pain
·         Stomach Upset

Stress can do us harm if it comes excessively or over one persons limit. There is a friend mine holding a post of a manager in his company. Everyday pressured by the workloads and queried by the higher management team and at time customers as well. He actually gets heart attacks and admitted for 3 months before giving up the job due to health reason. The best proof is the next 2 manager replacing the same role as my friend also having stroke and heart problem.
Another friend of mine whom I have blogged about him on the title “spinal cord injury”, he also will feel the sudden pain on his injured disk area whenever he gets pressured or stress during work.
This really means that excessive amount of stress does affects our health. I do agree that it is almost impossible to live without some stress. And most of us wouldn't want to, because it gives life some spice and excitement. But if stress gets out of control, it may harm your health, your relationships, and your enjoyment of life.

How do we deal with stress?
There are a lot of ways and guidance on the web which guide us on how to handle stress. But in the end, it really depends on our situation and whether did we make any effort to overcome the stress we get. For me, the best and effective ways to handle and overcome stress are through:
·         Proper exercise - to relax our body and increase blood circulation.
·         Proper nutrition - to nourish our damage cells
·         Meditation – to free the mind & soul and increase blood flow to the brain.
·         Do something that you preferred doing when you’re free.
·         Listen to music and watching TV, reading magazines and story books.

Every one of us can’t escape from stress. Somehow stress kept coming and going without us realize it. Or sometimes it will leave a great impact on us whether physically or mentally. But the most important thing is how we overcome it by balanced our self to cope with it. Let just do our part and live our life to the fullest and not get handcuff by stress;)
