HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Today is the last day of year 2011. When this day came every year, most of us will think back of what we have done throughout the year – what makes us happy and memorable and what makes us sad or regrettable. This day was just like the final 30 minutes in the exam hall, where we will review back all the questions and answers before pass it over.

In this year I did have some regrettable things that I’ve never been through all the while. I can say year 2011 is my unlucky year. Unwanted things kept coming without fail, but however lotus flower blooms on a mud – of all the unwanted things happen, there are some goals and mission planned that I have accomplished.

Since this is a health blogs – let’s say something about health. Well every year round I will plan for the things I’ve need to be done on my health list. Like this year my health list that have done and fulfilled was – to do yearly medical check-up, take my Hepatitis injections, blood donation twice a year, went for marathon and walkathon event, to exercise at least twice a week and some of the dietary regime that I have followed. It may seems to be an easy list, but to really accomplish it will be quite difficult for me because of my work time (I work on shift –so quite complicated to adjust the time). So what can I say:o) I find it quite an accomplishment.

Next year (which is starting tomorrow) will be a new year and I have to draft a new health list to be accomplished – basically I just use back the old list and add up whatever I think necessary like the influenza injection that the doctor asked me to take, I might take it at the end of January itself. Another big challenge that I decided is to quit smoking!!! – This is by far the biggest challenge that I have to face I think. Hopefully victory is on my side.

What is in your mind guys? Have you review the healthy things that you’ve done this year? Have you plan for things that need to be done next year? Just sit down and think about what you have done this year and what have you accomplished and what have not – put it in your New Year resolution and plan for your health. Remember that wealth is gained through proper health. With a healthy body, you will have the energy to attain wealth, but without health you can’t do anything even with the wealth you’ve gain.

Let us balance between these two element of life and lead a healthy and wealthy year 2012. Here I’m wishing all of you a HAPPY & PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR. May all of you are blessed with abundance of health and wealth in this year of the dragon. HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!!!

Cough

Cough is a very tiring, annoying, mentally and physically stress thing to mention. Thanks to my never ending cough that I could not do my usual thing like exercise and even having a good night sleep. Indirectly makes me felt mentally tired due to stress and physically tired due to lack of rest. At times I really felt that I wanted to kill myself or cut the throat off to stop it from getting itchyL

I went to clinic to see doctor on the 2nd day I catch the cough. As usual the doctor would ask whether it is a cough with phlegm or without phlegm and I answer with doubt because sometimes have and sometimes don’t have. He check whatever needed and provide me the prescribe medicine.

Blood Donation

I went for blood donation last Wednesday, which was on 21st September. I felt very embarrassing to say that this was my first time donating blood after 4 years since my last time donate was at year 2007;/ Can say that it was my first time too because the anxious feeling is the same as the first time I'm donating blood.

It was a mobile blood team that have their booth setup in my company. I did not voluntarily go to Pusat Darah Negara (PDN) to donate it --well because I'm the lazy kind of guy that expected things to come to me;) Since my target set to myself was to donate blood once a year, i did not go all the way to PDN to donate it, because my

Quit Smoking

Smoking is the common habit in the society nowadays. Well, too bad to say that I am smokers too. Well as every smokers says, I wanted to quit smoking but the sentence has been came out from my mouth for years and yet I’m still a smokers;o/. I did tried several ways of quitting smoking sources from the internet, like nicotine patches, nicotine gum, mental control and also to the extend of buying books that guide us to smoke free life. Does it works? Well all I can say is nicotine patch and gums are useless for me because I still seem to be in the habit although I use it for about 1 month. There is no smell on the patch or gums and they say that the nicotine content in it can prevent your lust for puff.
Well for me I think the culprit that causes me to find it hard to quit smoking is the habit. The habit to have a puff after every meal, the habit of having a puff when I drink with friends, the habit to get a puff before I enter the house or office, the habit of getting a puff when I’m in stress or relaxed. All these things if you think of it really good and healthy activities, but if you put cigarettes in the picture it seems to spoil the mood. But for smokers like me, it really brings up the mood. The feel to have a puff in a nice environment is really stress relief for smokers.

Hot Spring

It's been a while since i wrote my last post, as i am busy with other things which are more important. Well the busy day had passed and i start my posting again;) Recently me and my friends went for natural hotspring at Selayang. The water of the hotspring is indeed crystal clear and there are three pool for visitor's to choosed base on the heat of the water. Initially i can only withstand the heat of the second heat pool as it's temperature was around 40 celcius, but after a few round trips i can able to bathe on the third pool with the heat of i think around 45-50 celcius. Sounds unbelievable? Well it's because the rule of the hotspring is people can't soaked their leg in the pool and the water is too hot that not all people can soaked their whole body in...I mean theres really are some uncles that can actually soaked their whole body inside the hot pool. Because it's hot, i can only take bath using a pail and a towel.

Spinal Cord Injury Continue

It’s been a while since my last post about spinal cord injury which a friend of mine experienced few 2 months back. Few weeks later I get to know that my company’s manager also having the same back problem as my friend, but instead of sports injury he get it from the amount of stress he had in his job. His situation is more serious compared with my friend. Having degenerative disk disease at the vertebral level of C6 & C7, his condition is more worst that he can barely turn his head to left or right without his body turning together. He can’t touch his left shoulder with his right hand because it stuck halfway in the middle. I’ve asked him about his condition on whether is he in pain? He just laughs and said that he is in pain even now, he just got used to the pain, since he has been having the pain problem since year 2002.

Spinal Cord Injury

Recently a friend of mine admitted to hospital to do checkup, claiming that his back was pain causes sudden neck stiffness, flu and fever.  He perform MRI scan on his spine where the pain originated somewhere at the back near his neck and slightly below the shoulder level. I went to check out on him at the hospital just to chill him up. He told me that from the MRI scan results saying that he have a bulging disc which one of the symptom in degenerative disc disease. Having no idea what is he talking about, he elaborate further on what the doctor explain to him. Degenerative disc disease is a condition characterized by damage to the invertebral discs. It is a gel-like cushion that separates each segment (vertebra) of the backbone. Degenerative disc diseases can results in pain and stiffness in the neck, back, as well as pain that spreads (radiates) to the back of the head, trunk, shoulders, arms, hands, legs, and feet.

ANTIBIOTICS

What Are Antibiotics? How Do Antibiotics Work?

The word antibiotic comes from the Greek anti meaning 'against' and bios meaning 'life' (a bacterium is a life form).' Antibiotics are also known as antibacterials, and they are drugs used to treat infections caused by bacteria. Bacteria are tiny organisms that can sometimes cause illness to humans and animals. The singular word for bacteria is bacterium. tuberculosis, salmonella, syphilis and some forms of meningitis are caused by bacteria. Some bacteria are not harmful, while others are good for us.

Before bacteria can multiply and cause symptoms our immune system can usually destroy them. We have special white blood cells that attack harmful bacteria. Even if symptoms do occur, our immune system can usually cope and fight off the infection. There are occasions, however, when it is all too much and our bodies need some help - from antibiotics.

FEVER

FEVER
What is Fever?

Fever, or pyrexia or controlled hyperthermia is when the human's body temperature goes above the normal range of 36-37C (98-100F) - it is a common medical sign. As the individual's body temperature goes up, there may be a sensation of cold until the temperature plateaus (stops rising).

An elevated body temperature (fever) is one of the ways our immune system attempts combat an infection. Usually the rise in body temperature helps the individual resolve an infection. However, sometimes it may rise too high, in which case the fever can be serious and lead to complications.

MIGRAINE

What Is a Migraine?
A migraine is a headache with throbbing pain that is usually worse on one side of the head. The pain is often severe enough to hamper daily activities and may last from four hours to three days if untreated. More than one in 10 Americans, including one in 6 women, have migraines, but many have been told mistakenly that they have a sinus or tension headache. Foods, stress, and hormones can be migraine triggers.

Migraine Symptoms
Throbbing pain typically occurs on one side near the temples, forehead, and eyes. Migraines can make you very sensitive to light, sound, or mild exertion, such as climbing the stairs. Many people have nausea, vomiting, or vision problems. The pain can be disabling, forcing people to miss work or other activities.
