Bad Breath

It is sad to say that much of the think I write here are somehow related to myself;/ Talking about bad breath – I can say for me it is on and off because it comes once in a while, but due to not everyone will honestly told me that I have a bad breath, I’m not pretty sure whether am I on and off or all the while having it.

This means that drinking a lot of water, mouth spray, chewing gum, sweets and whatever thing that prevents my bad breath to surface, I will surely kept them with me without fail. Sometimes when I run out of stocks and forget to re-stock, I will felt uneasy because I have phobia on hearing people said that word (bad breath) to me.  – I still thought that my breath is always bad all the time.

Actually what causes bad breath?
I really actually not sure what causes bad breath. Normally I will hear people saying that my body was hot causes bad breath, I drink less water, not enough sleep, smoking and etc. There is once I go to the dentist for checkup and the doctor said that my gums are infected, causes it to swollen. It flashes my mind and asks myself that could it be this infection that causes my bad breath? I ask the doctor the same question and he says it might be and he can’t answer me for sure, because there are a lot of reasons that causes it. So the doctor washes my teeth and gave me medication for the swollen gums. He also recommends me to use Sensodyne – toothpaste for the protection of gums.
Well I’m not really using it for long, because somehow it makes my teeth to be more sensitive to cold drinks (which I prefer the most).

I look for a better explanation through articles and experts says that millions of bacteria that leave in the mouth (particularly at the back of the tongue) are the primary culprits. The mouth’s warm, moist conditions make an ideal environment for these bacteria to grow.

In addition, bad breath can be caused by the following:
·         Poor dental hygiene — infrequent or improper brushing and flossing can leave food particles to decay inside the mouth
·         Infections in the mouth — periodontal (gum) disease
·         Respiratory-tract infections — throat infections, sinus infections, lung infections
·         External agents — garlic, onions, coffee, cigarette smoking, chewing tobacco
·         Dry mouth (xerostomia) — this can be caused by salivary gland problems, medications or by "mouth breathing"
·         Systemic illnesses — diabetes, liver disease, kidney disease, lung disease, sinus disease, reflux disease and others
·         Psychiatric illness — some people may perceive that they have bad breath, but it is not noticed by oral-healthcare professionals or others. This is referred to as "pseudohalitosis"

The treatment of bad breath really depends on its caused. After reading some articles, my conclusions are:
1.       Brush my teeth twice a day – together with mouth rinsing using mouth wash.
2.       Drink a lot of water.
3.       Dental checkup twice a year.
4.       Smoke free
5.       Eat low sugar chewing gums or sweets.
6.       If it still persists, I might go for lung screening as well.

Please note that above are just my action plans, if you have a better one – please do not hesitate to leave me some comment or advice.
